“The one thing that matters is the effort. It continues, whereas the end to be attained is but an illusion of the climber, as he fares on and on from crest to crest” – Saint Exupery
Middlebury Rowing is a competitive club program. Training with passion, focus, and intensity, we compete successfully against some of the best varsity Division III programs from New England and beyond. In recent years the team has grown to over 70 student-athletes, men and women, forming a competitive and supportive team that can add a new dimension to a Middlebury career.
Some athletes come to Middlebury with rowing experience, but many start in our novice program. This program forms crews with little or no prior rowing experience, and after training for four to six weeks will start racing. In fact, this is a path many Olympians took to start their rowing careers.
We race in both the fall and spring attending a number of regattas including The Head of the Charles, The Head of the Fish, The New England Rowing Championships, and The Dad Vail. Over the winter we informally take the opportunity to train for our Spring season.
